About Resource Development Associates

Our History

RDA was founded in the late 70’s by Bob Davis and three associates from Vanderbilt University Hospital’s management engineering program. Early clients included Charleston Area Medical Center, Indiana University Hospitals, and eventually clients of Ernst and Young. Over time the associates went in different directions and Mr. Davis became a partner in E&Y.

After retiring in 2001 Bob restarted RDA as a solo practice. Bob prefers to work directly for moderately sized community hospitals, but on occasion RDA subcontracts through other firms with shared values.

Our Values and Philosophy

  • Solo consulting by a seasoned and versatile practitioner has many advantages

o   I tailor solutions from deep experience and a large array of potential tools

o   Clients avoid layers of overhead, missed handoffs, and inexperienced new staff

o   The way I do things yields high benefits at low cost

  • Delivering VALUE is critical for both motivated clients and RDA’s survival; so we do whatever it takes to help you meet mission-critical goals
  • PROCESS innovation using systems engineering methodologies is often needed to achieve both quality, service and revenue gains while moderating expense;

o   Slash and burn techniques are short-sighted and destructive with short shelf life.

o   Conversely, incremental approaches like TQM and now Six Sigma get bogged down

  • RESULTS and especially speed to results must meet or exceed client expectations or we are not done. RDA lives from repeat business and referrals.
  • We seek to DEVELOP each client’s internal RESOURCES and prepare managers for future success
